The newest entry into the Magic City's music scene has come out swinging. Saturn Birmingham, located in the Avondale neighborhood, held its incredibly successful grand opening on May 1st.
Hundreds packed the spacious venue to see what it had to offer, and they did not leave disappointed. Many had to wait outdoors for a while to get inside as the space reached capacity.
The venue, which is the creation of Brian Scott Teasley, waived cover charges for the opening night so as many people as possible could come and experience the space. Many sampled the coffee and tea offerings at the neighboring Satellite before migrating to the actual performance space.
Visitors to both spots saw a distinct "space" theme used. A black and orange color scheme dominated throughout while rockets and Saturn inspired logos helped compliment things. For example, the vents are shaped like Saturn V rockets.
The music venue offered a spacious floor plan, great lighting, and an incredible sound mix to enjoy. Everything looked and sounded great on opening night. No detail had been left to chance by Teasley and his team.
The talent that took the stage for the first show at Saturn included Helen Choi, Dead Fingers, and Mother Falcon. Those three acts will forever have the distinction of being the first of what will be many bands to grace Saturn's stage.
