Heavy metal icons Anthrax performed at Iron City in Birmingham, Alabama on February 6th to a captive crowd that wanted to rock hard. The show was the band's first time in the Magic City since all the way back in 1991, but it was well worth the wait. The group put on a dynamic and exciting performance that showcased why they are so revered and respected within the heavy metal community.
This was my second time to see and photograph Anthrax, and I did not come away disappointed at all. Joey Belladonna, Scott Ian, and the rest of the group had so much energy and stage presence, but that should be expected for a band as experienced as Anthrax. The show's production values combined with the band's performance skills made it an absolue delight to photograph and witness.
I can only imagine what it would be like if more bands had the stage skills that the members of Anthrax do. They really know how to work a room and compliment the thrasing sounds of their music with great visual moments. If you have never seen Anthrax live, I highly encourage you make the effort to do so.
