Los Angeles based Cherry Glazerr released their latest album, "Apocalipstick", on January 20th, and it has been making waves ever seen. The 90's indie influences present on the album combined with the performance skills and style of lead singer Clementine Creevy is quite the mix, and that mix was present on September 7th for the band's concert at The Syndicate Lounge in Birmingham, Alabama.
In anticipation of this show, I've been listening to "Apocalipstick", and it's become an album I can't really put down. The sound, style, and approach are all exactly what I'm into at the moment so I was thrilled to be able to get up to The Syndicate to photograph this show. After a great opening set by the band Winter, another group out of Los Angeles, Cherry Glazerr took the stage in grand style. Creevy exuded a crazy amount of charisma as she was all over the place once the show began. It was a manic and irreverent energy that served as a beautiful compliment to the music being put out by Cherry Glazerr as a whole. Even though it was a bit tricky due to positioning and such, I was also able to walk away with what's quickly become one of my favorite images of the year.
I don't get to shoot at The Syndicate Lounge a lot, but, when I do, I always walk away with images I'm really happy with after the fact. This one above definitely fits the bill and, as I just mentioned, it's going on the short list of favorite shots from 2017. That couldn't have been acomplished, though, without the great performance by Cherry Glazerr. If you get a chance to see them live, definitely go to that show. Trust me on that one.
