The sounds, sights, and feels of the 1980's filled the Spring Street Firehouse in the Avondale neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama on May 26th. The reason was because DIY Birmingham hosted its annual prom event, and this year's theme was the 1980's. Guests were decked out in their finest 1980's inspired attire to enjoy a night where the New Wave, among other musical genres of the decade, were abundant from the DJs and bands that performed.
The DIY Birmingham Prom is always a top notch event to photograph, and the 1980's theme made this year's event even more of a pleasure to document. Anyone who knows me knows my love of 1980's New Wave and the fashions it inspired so I was all about the style and aesthetic of this event.
Do note that these photos represent the start of the prom until about 10:30 in the evening. Even with that time frame, it should be a good idea of how fun things were for those who attended this year's prom from DIY Birmingham.
