A blend of blues, R&B, hiop-hop, funk, and rock filled Saturn Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama on July 18th as Fantastic Negrito, the stage name for Xavier Dphrepaulezz, put on quite the performance. The Grammy award winning artist gave the audience a spirited concert and showed why his 2016 album, "The Last Days of Oakland", received such acclaim and his current album, "Please Don't Be Dead", is doing the same.
This was my first bit of exposure to Fantastic Negrito, and I must say that I really dug what I saw on stage. His performance style was on point as he effortlessly went back and forth from playing guitar to singing and dancing across the stage. These skills complimented the wonderful blend of genres that make up his musical output. Fantastic Negrito's stage presence also, naturally, made him a great performer to photograph. The show was full of energy and life, which will always come across well on camera.
On a personal note, It was quite nice to get back to Saturn after an extended lull that featured an outdoor show and a music festival, and I must say that I'm happy with the images I got from this concert. I do hope you enjoy them.
