Foo Fighters dropped their latest album, "Concrete and Gold", on September 15th, and the band has been road warriors to support the release. Their tour in support of the album brought them to Birmingham, Alabam and Legacy Arena at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center on October 26th where they were met by thousands upon thousands of screaming and adoring fans.
I had the pleasure of being able to photograph this performance by Foo Fighters in Birmingham, and it was definitely a highlight of the year. This was the first time I got to see the band perform live, and they did not disappoint. Dave Grohl was absolutely electric on stage and went full blast as soon as the curtain dropped during the first song. Grohl is the definition of a true and pure blooded rockstar, and this was on display for everyone in Birmingham to see and enjoy.
It also needs to be said that the opening act, The Struts, put on a stellar show to get the crowd hype and excited. Their style of British rock, drawing on several great influences from the past, was the perfect way to set the stage for Foo Fighters later in the evening.
All in all, this was a great night of rock 'n roll in Birmingham that I was glad to be a part of and photograph. I even walked away with what will probably end up my favorite shot of the year, which you can see towards the bottom of the page. It was quite the evening.
