Jessica Hernandez and The Deltas are no strangers to Birmingham, Alabama. They played the first edition of Sloss Fest back in 2015, and they returned to the Magic City for a concert at The Syndicate Lounge on September 28th. The show was in support of their latest albums, the English version "Telephone" and the Spanish version "Telefono". The Detroit sound of the band, which was built on a wide variety of influences, fit in nicely inside the confines of The Syndicate Lounge.
I was able to catch Jessica Hernandez and The Deltas at the first Sloss Fest back in 2015, and I really liked what I heard. Sometimes bands get lost in the shuffle at festivals, but their performance stood out. That is why I was really glad to catch this particular show at The Syndicate Lounge. Jessica Hernandez is a great lead singer and guitarist who exhibits the right amount of charisma and attitude on stage. Her performance style is complimented nicely by The Deltas, who do a great job of blending all the musical styles the band implements.
Definitely do yourself a favor and check out both "Telephone" and "Telefono". Jessica Hernandez and The Deltas are a talented bunch in both the record aspect and the performance aspect. They represent the musical legacy of Detroit quite nicely.
