Judah & The Lion released the deluxe edition of their second album, "Folk Hop n' Roll" in March, and they've been on the road ever since in support of that time. The tour brought them to Iron City in Birmingham, Alabama on October 13th, Friday the 13th, where the band performed in front of a capacity crowd. Over 1,000 adoring fans gave the Nashville based band an incredibly warm welcome back to the Magic City.
Taking the stage with a send-up of boy bands, Judah & The Lion proceeded to put on an electrifying show that hit all the right notes with the audience. The band's mix of folk, alternative, and rock mashed up quite nicely along side the wonderful production and lighting employed during the concert.
The reaction from the audience and the fact it was a sold out show should not be a surprise to anyone. Judah & The Lion have played in Birmingham numerous times, including the first edition of Sloss Fest back in 2015. That is where I first saw the band on stage, but it was far different than the set-up they employed with this performance. The atmosphere of this show blew away their Sloss Fest performance, which was definitely impacted by the fact it was a middle of the afternoon festival gig. It was almost like watching two different bands in retrospect.
Even if you think their music might not be for you, I would highly recommend you checking out a concert by Judah & The Lion. The band know the importance of wowing an audience while being able to back it up with their musical skills. These traits were evident and on display in abundance with this particular show.
