Marian Hill, the Philadelphia duo consisting of Jeremy Lloyd and Samantha Gongol, made their first trip to Saturn Birmingham and Birmingham, Alabama, as a whole, on May 5th, and they made the most of their visit. A large crowd gathered to see the moody and groovy performance that was highlighted by Gongol's vocal delivery and Lloyd's production techniques. This performance was also done in anticipation of the duo's upcoming album, "Unusual", which will be released in a matter of days from the publication of this piece.
This was my first experience seeing and hearing Marian Hill, and I must say I came away impressed with what I witnessed. Gongol has a great voice for the group's particular style, and the beats provided by Lloyd were definite crowd pleasers. This was all complimented by the great lighting display the duo incorporated. It really did complete the whole sensory package of the performance. Based on this show, I'm definitely curious to see what the band will do once "Unusual" gets released.
