Nostalgia was in the air at Saturn Birmingham on December 2nd as a sold out crowd filled the venue for a special performance by New Found Glory. The pop punk band was celebrating their 20th anniversary, and the show in Birmingham represented one of the last stops on an extensive "birthday" tour.
After a fun opening set by The Ataris, a retrospecrive video, and a bit of Rickrolling, New Found Glory took the stage and wasted no time in putting on a pop punk spectacle. Lead singer Jordan Pundik was all over the stage as were various crowd surfers. Those who remained in the crowd were still a lively bunch that fed off the energy put out by New Found Glory.
Even after 20 years as a band, this was my first time to see New Found Glory in person. I, of course, have been aware of them over the years, but I never got around to seeing them live until now. It was definitely a fun show to photograph and just watch as everyone seemed to be having an absolute blast enjoying the music of their youth. That is a bit of high praise for the band and a testament to their staying power.
