Saturn Birmingham | Birmingham, Alabama | September 8th, 2018

Sometimes a band needs to explore new outlets while also recording a much more personal work. This is definitely the situation St. Paul & The Broken Bones found themselves in when crafting the songs that would become their latest release, "Young Sick Camellia", which can be found on the RECORDS, LLC label. The band celebrated the release of that album in grand style with a sold out home town concert at Saturn Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama on September 7th. The performance came just under two months after the band performed a specia impromptu concert at the venue the night their set at the 2018 edition of the Sloss Music and Arts Festival got cancelled due to weather.
Where as previous works by St. Paul & The Broken Bones have been brimming with old school influences, the songs of "Young Sick Camellia" have been hailed as being much more contemporary in sound and lyrical content. That's not the only change the band showcased with this performance. Lead singer Paul Janeway traded his usual snazzy suit for a shiny black cape that gave off a definite out of this world and psychedelic vibe. These changes were a big hit with the audience for this concert. Everyone in the room danced and grooved to the new tunes and sounds put out by the band. St. Paul & The Broken Bones have departed on a new route for "Young Sick Camellia", and their fans are following right behind them on what should be a hell of a trip.
