The Alabama vs. Georgia National Championship game had many twists and turns, but the biggest came in overtime as Alabama secured its 17th National Championship in school history thanks to a touchdown pass thrown by Tua Tagovailoa. The sudden nature of the victory, combined with how the game played out, caused a mass rush of celebration throughout the city of Tuscaloosa. Like previous celebrations, the party was concentrated on The Strip, which is located right next to the campus of The University of Alabama.
This happened to be the 5th National Championship celebration for The University of Alabama I have had the pleasure of photographing from The Strip and Egan's Bar. Because the game ended in such dramatic fashion, especially compared to the other 4 under Nick Saban, this was easily the wildest and most lively of the bunch. Champagne was flowing in the streets, chants of "Tua" echoed throughout, and a general sense of "That just happened!" covered the area.
It was a fantastic party to be a part of and photograph. As I always says during these celebrations, Tuscaloosa was easily the happiest place on Earth. I hope to get to say that for a sixth time next year and then a seventh... and so on and so on.
