Young The Giant is currently on the road in support of their album "Home of the Strange", and the tour brought them to the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Concert Hall in Birmingham, Alabama on September 26th. The California based band, led by Sameer Gadhia, headlined the evening and put on a highly entertaining show that was a big hit with the fans inside the building. It was also a return to the Magic City for Young The Giant as they had played the first edition of Sloss Fest back in July of 2015.
I was able to photograph Young The Giant at the first Sloss Fest back in 2015, and they were definitely one of the highlights of that year's festival. Gadhia really impressed me as a lead singer and frontman as he exhibited a great deal of charisma and energy on stage. That charisma and energy was on display with this particular performance as well. He commanded the stage, and, as a result, the entire venue with his abilities as a performer. He performed with a calm and cool sensibility but also showed a great deal of emotion as the concert progressed. Those are all signs of a great lead singer.
Young The Giant has been on the road for quite a while in support of "Home of the Strange", but it should not surprise anyone. They are a great live band to watch. Young The Giant is also a great live band to photograph as they put on a show that not only treats the ears but the eyes as well. The stage was washed in beautiful lighting and a large video projection board added to the production values of the show. It really was a stellar night across the board.
